Early Senior Portraits – Caleb

Caleb is a 2012Early High School senior. I have known his family for a many years and had the pleasure of taking his brothers David and Brandan’s senior pictures a few years ago. Now it’s Caleb’s turn. We started out in Downtown Brownwood and the train museum. It’s a sure bet for some color! I was warned by Caleb’s mom, that he really wasn’t going to be “into” senior pictures. But it ended up that we had a great time and he was totally cool with the whole experience. We tried to really focus on the things he enjoyed and the person he is. He loved spending time at his family’s land, so we made sure that was a feature in his shoot. Thanks for being so easy to work with Caleb!! I had a great time and love how all your images turned out. Hugs to you and the family!

Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit

I’m excited to announce that for the 5th year in a row I have had one of my artworks accepted into the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit. Competition is fierce and comes from all over the state, so I feel honored to be included with the other very talented artist in the show this year.

The piece selected is called “Girl with Blue Scarf” and is a photograph of my sister (my favorite model) in pose reminiscent of Vermeer. It is part of a series attempting to create “Old Masters” photography. The lighting and color toning are subtle and contemplative. I think the choice to print it on wood not only enhances the skin tone but also lends the piece a quite power. If you’d like to see it in person (and place you vote for People’s Choice- hint,hint) the show will be up at the Depot through Saturday February 18.

I also have another piece in the Salon show at the Art Center downtown “The Thing With Feathers On It.” It is also on display through February 18 and if you come down this afternoon I’ll be there to talk to you about it!

Abilene Wedding – Heather + Marcus

One huge wedding + One amazing couple + New Year’s Eve = One Epic Wedding! Take a look at Heather and Marcus’ beautiful (and crazy fun!) winter wedding at the Willow Creek Wedding Chapel in Abilene. All the beautiful twinkle lights and classic chandlers at Willow Creek Wedding Chapel made a gorgeous backdrop for an elegant celebration. New Year’s Eve weddings are always a blast because they’re more than just a wedding reception, they‘re a full blown party! Congrats to Heather and Marcus!!

Wedding Guest Book – Ashley + Chris

Engagement sessions are such a great opportunity to let loose and have fun in front of the camera. Once you have all those great photos what will you do with them? You can create save the date cards and/or we can design an interactive guest book for your wedding day. The new interactive guest book features photos from your shoot as well as questions for your guests to answer about you. Some examples are, “Where do you see us in 10 years? What would be a fun date night? When could you tell we were first in love?” The questions along with yours guest’s thoughts makes this guest book a priceless keepsake from your wedding day. Abilene Engagement Session – Cacie + Mark

This was a seriously fun engagement session. This couple had no problem enjoying the unusually warm winter day. We had almost as much fun as they did. There won’t be many warm days to shoot outdoors, so it was great to get to know them and enjoy the weather.

Ashleigh + Aimee – Custom Portrait Album

As a third generation photographer I grew up surrounds by family albums. I loved caressing the leather covers and turning the pages to take a trip through my family history. I treasure my family’s portrait albums and look forward to sharing them with my children when they are older, so I’m always excited when clients Aimee and Ashleigh choose to give their family the gift of portrait albums.

To give you a glimpse at how fun modern portraits can be, here is a slideshow of a custom designed portrait album capturing sisters Ashleigh and Aimee Gow. Together we choose a mixture of posed and candid, playful shots to show flattering, stylish portraits while also focusing on the close relationship of the girls. This open field provides a great backdrop for family portraits, especially with the crisp natural light and fall foliage that is starting to turn into brilliant colors. We accented the warmth of the images with bold background colors and a modern, punchy layout in the album.

Comanche Wedding – Krista + Hunter

I am so excited to finally post this absolutely wonderful country chic wedding out at Brennan Vineyards. Krista made a lot of the details herself – the boutonnieres, barnwood signs, guest book, even the centerpieces! There are so many amazing photos and stories from this wedding I really could keep you here all day talking and showing you things but I have tried my best to narrow things down to my absolute favs to share.

Total Bridal Show 2012 – Abilene Texas
